I had an encounter in 1973, we had a cabin on soldiers
meadow lake. it's 28 miles south of my home in Lewiston Idaho. At the time
there was only our place and a forest service cabin on the other side of the
lake. We were up for the weekend hunting. Our cabin faced the lake, it was
early morning and snow on the ground, I had to go to the bathroom so I got up
to go.
We had an outhouse behind the cabin and I didn't want to walk back to it
so a just peed off the porch in my long johns. There were around 8 cows watering
at the lake, they started running towards me. Out of the tree line about
maybe 100 yards away comes a small one, then a large one, then a larger one. Three total, the little one went down and was splashing in the water while the
other two were standing and watching.
I could believe it, I went into the cabin
and got my 30-6, rested it on the porch rail and watched them through the scope
for minutes. When the little I one was done splashing around they all went back
into the trees and were gone. I didn't say anything about it for years, wish I
would have asked my grandpa if he'd ever saw anything like that because he was
a game warden here in Nez Perce county.
After seeing that, I always carry some
sort of weapon and my sense of surrounding is heightened. We’ve heard things
and smelled things while out in the woods up there, but have only seen a so
called " family" of whatever’s once.

Hi Jim, what color were they? In comparison to the cows how
tall was each creature and how wide was the biggest? Thanks for your report.

It's been a few years but the 3 individuals were darker
colored than the cows. The little guy maybe 4 feet or so, the mom was way
bigger than that and the dad was about a foot or so taller than her. This all happened across an open lake, so I'm guessing the sizes. They
weren't bears because the two big ones stood there on two legs all the time
they were there and they walked back into the trees.

Your sighting reminds me of a report we received from near
the Dworshak Reservoir where some people living there saw a family of Bigfoot.
The Dworshak is around 40 miles Northeast of Soldiers Meadow Reservoir. Thanks

I have seen them in McCall IDAHO, Aberdeen Washington I now
live in Ontario Oregon and I always wonder when I will see one here.
McCall Idaho In 1975 at twilight on five acres our horses
and dogs were going nuts I was 15 years old at the time. As soon as I opened
the outside door the dogs ran in and went under the stairs and wouldn't come
out, they were scared of what was outside. I went back in grabbed the 30-06
went back outside started down towards the hog pen because of the noise. I
thought I saw a bear so I shot it. It also had a 275-pound hog under its arm.
Now mind you a bear can't jump a five-foot barbed wire fence and take off with
the hog still under its arm. Had to wait until morning to go after it but it
was nowhere to be found.
During the summer we had 3, fifty-gallon barrels down at the
hog pen. Now when you fill up those barrels with grain water and dairy products
you end up with a type of moonshine and we were having a problem with a bear
coming and drinking this mixture. So, I thought that was what it was, boy I was
not prepared for what it turned out to be. To this day I start shaking when I
think about it.

Wow, how tall and wide would you estimate it was compared to
the 275-pound hog? Amazing it jumped a fence carrying the hog. Did it get away
with your pig? Thanks for sharing your experience.

Yes, it got away with the hog and a bullet in the back we
followed the blood trail until it crossed Lake fork creek and we lost it. But
it was about 8 foot tall and the shoulders were about 4 feet. It had no problem
carrying the hog.

Thank you for the details. In 1961 my dad, uncles,
grandfather & his gold claim partner with his sons observed a Bigfoot out
in the open, broad day light for well over a minute from about 100 feet away
while they were all working a gold claim during the month of August around 50
miles south of McCall, Idaho. My dad and uncles said there were ten of them
that watched it. Because they were able to compare it to tree branches it
walked past when it finally went for cover, they estimate it to be around 10
feet tall and reddish brown. My dad said they were all working the sluice boxes
in the creek, when they noticed it. He said it appeared to be looking for
something and they watched it for nearly a minute and a half before it noticed
them down in the creek watching it, that's when it went for cover of the trees
and disappeared.

Right behind the nursing home on five acres of property. We
lived in a double size trailer house but we kept some horses in a small pasture
and of course the hogs and there was 9 or 10 of them. They all were good size
but the big one that was taken was going to be the breeder. But to this day
when I think about it, I get goosebumps up and down my neck and arms. If you
have been to the fish and game shop it was a quarter of a mile west of them.
And I might add that 1975 and 1976 was a year of strange happenings.

Miners Sluicing Gold Have Close Encounter with Idaho Bigfoot

Here is the story of the gold claim. We moved to Boise in
1955 after Brehon was born. Dad met a guy at his work at yonkeys, there were
machinists there. He was dad’s partner on this gold claim. We worked it from 1956
till 1962. They made over 20,000 off it in 6 years. Gold was 35 an ounce back
then & so we had collected close to 600 ounces.
We would blast these
big gravel areas about twice a year, then take and put it in sluice boxes. After
washing it for a long time we would take it out of the washing process and pan
the gold for the final.
This claim was between Boise and Idaho city it was about 4 miles off the pavement on a dirt road back to our claim where two creeks come together. We dammed off the main creek to
make it deep enough for our sluice boxes to fit into it.
I hope you can make
out my map, it explains a lot.
We only got placer gold, little tiny flakes. It came in a
lot of colors. Red, yellow, orange, silver, black, and gold. After panning we
would test these small flakes with different strength of acid, if it smoked it wasn’t
gold, if no reaction then it was gold. We would pick it out and take to the
assay office and they would pay us cash.
The guy we were in
business was Walt Carrington, dad would split it dollar for dollar with him. We
got to be good friends with them. We gave up on prospecting because we moved to
Freeport in Clearfield in 1963. Dad got a job with Sperry Univac as a top
dollar machinest. We also got to see a Sasquatch the summer of 1961 in August.
And broad day light, within 100 feet and nothing blocking our view. Six
people in Walt's family and four from the Shaw family. Brehon, Mike, dad (Dewis
Shaw), and me (Scott Shaw). Mom was home taking care of Noel. Doyle was working
on Uncle dicks farm in Emmett Idaho.

I was swimming in the trout tub when I felt like something
was staring at me, then I called everyone to look at it. It was looking down
and walking back and forth, then noticed us and turned to leave and was still
looking down as it went back into the trees.
It was about 10 ft tall and had reddish brown hair... All
ten of us saw it. It came out of the trees and looked like it was looking for something,
it didn't notice us for almost a minute and a half. It turned and walked back
into the trees after we got a good look at it. It was probably close to 400
lbs. Really buff. Gave us the chills looking at it.
You see one that close at daylight and nothing blocking your
view, it will change your whole life. They are real I'll tell you.
There is no way as many sightings have been made that these
aren't real. They are and they are much bigger than a 6 ft. Man.

looking for something?

It was looking down and walking back and forth, then noticed
us and turned to leave and was still looking down as it went back into the
trees.

they were behind the willow stand you couldn’t see it until you got over closer
to me. Dad said that is a Sasquatch, I had seen them in the state of Washington
years ago.
It could have been looking for rock chucks or ground
squirrels to eat, it was an unusual thing to see.

Hello and thank you for allowing me to join this group! I've never told a soul about this but I'm going to now.
1986 Grand Jean, Idaho. We were camping on memorial weekend. I was taking a short walk at dusk. I smelled what I thought was a male goat. I saw a tree that I thought had moss on it. It wasn't moss, it was hair, hair on the very long arm of a very tall being standing behind the tree with its arm unshielded by the tree. Right as I got about six feet from the tree he stepped out from behind the tree and looked at me.
I froze. I looked up at his face and into his eyes. I saw curiosity in his dark eyes. He took a step towards me, reached out slowly towards me, I stood in terror and pissed my pants. I think he sensed my fear because his reach stopped midair and he was sniffing. I could tell he smelled my pee or my sweat or both. I felt light headed as fear engulfed me completely.......I passed out. When I came to I was still over whelmed with fear and I was shaking. He was gone from what I could see as it was almost dark. It took me a few minutes to get my bearings to get up and stand on my feet.
When I got back to the camp site everyone there was around the camp fire. One of them saw that my pants were wet and asked me if I fell in the creek. I couldn't answer him, I tried but only mumble came out. They all knew I was very upset. I remember one of the gals helped me into the camper and into my sleeping bag. I could not bring myself to tell any of them what happened, one of them even jokingly said I must've seen a Bigfoot. When he said that it actually dawned on me that that's exactly what I'd seen, Bigfoot!
It certainly was the last thing on my mind that day. I'd heard stories about bigfoot but never dreamed I would encounter one. I hope you do man

Yes, in 1998 I went back with friends, they didn't know about my encounter though. But I made sure I was never alone. I've often wondered if there have been other sightings at Grand Jean

Great share of your experience. Did you have "sweat sleep" for any period afterwards? What about the feeling of being watched or a lurking presence for some period of time after the encounter (particularly at night)?

I witnessed a juvenile for probably 30 to 40 seconds or longer right off the side of the highway. I slowed down to its speed and drove along side it as it walked straight ahead. There was no other traffic on the highway at the time, and it didn’t seem bothered at all, it did seem like maybe its right arm or shoulder possibly had been injured from the side I was looking at it from. I was looking at it from it's left side.
Also, I read one of your episodes of a Bigfoot in Garland. I was a paramedic and I heard the story going over the pager or scanner and I know a lot about that situation and the person I work with found two full sets of tracks that next morning at his dairy bar approximately 6 miles away from the garland area.

When did your sighting happen and where were you when you saw it on the highway?

My sighting was near the north Utah and south Idaho border in 2010 sometime around May.
I was south bound interstate 15 about to climb Malad pass about 2 miles before the rest stop. It was early morning and visibility was great.
The two lane highway is split between northbound and southbound by a concrete divider and maybe 100 feet of sagebrush and grass. I don’t remember any traffic northbound or coming down the pass and only one semi southbound a distance behind me. I was maybe one mile from starting my accent up the pass driving a ford f350 pulling a 20 foot construction trailer which comes in to play.
My construction Forman was in the passenger seat. I noticed a something or someone walking up the side of the road on my right side or passenger side at that moment I thought it was a hitchhiker or maybe someone broke down so I changed lanes looking in the mirror of course and noticed a semi was about half a mile behind us.
As we got closer I noticed what I thought was a monkey or gorilla walking right on the fog line looking straight ahead and slightly down. I started to slow down and I noticed the walking gate was one foot in front of the other like it was walking tightrope. It looked like about 4 1/2 feet between steps. I also noticed when it’s feet came up the bottom of the feet were gray black. The rest of it was covered in reddish brown hair. It’s hands were a dark battleship gray color and its fingernails were black, its left arm swayed in stride hanging down somewhere close to its knees and it’s right arm swaying but wasn’t in the same stride, like possibly the right arm or shoulder was injured.
By that time I had slowed down to its walking speed and was directly to the side of it, still trying to figure out what in the hell I was looking at. My passenger turned sideways in the seat and was facing it looking straight out the window on the passenger side and started to block my view. I was hoping to get a better view of the face, so I sped up just a little bit so I could see through my mirror to see its face and really didn’t get very good details.
I noticed the hair was a reddish brown color, but the hair that was hanging off of it arms and some other areas as the sun was shining through it looked more like a strawberry red. It’s facial color was the same as its hands, a battleship grey maybe and the hair came around most of its facial area.
This creature looked straight ahead and slightly down, it looked directly in front of itself and never once turned or looked at us, even though we were 20 feet away with a noisy power stroke diesel next to it. The semi was starting to get closer so I pulled ahead and got back in the slow lane and was watching it through my mirror. Still wondering if I was seeing things.
When the semi got there I got confirmation because I heard him start shutting down. It was obvious he had seen the same thing we did. My foreman and I never said a thing to each other. We were both in shock and we had no idea what we had just seen. About the time we were in Malad he looked at me and asked me if I just seen what he seen. We agreed that we seen the same thing and agreed on some details and we never talked about it again, thinking everybody would say we’re crazy and even more crazy that we seen it on the side of a freeway.
I had to know what I seen and I started to investigate and I just googled Bigfoot on freeways, always thinking they were the hide and seek champion and there was no way they would be out in the open. To my surprise I found many cases of reports of Sasquatch and Bigfoot on the side of the road as well as videos, still never telling anybody. My foreman and I were traveling on that same road maybe a year later and the only thing we said is do you remember what we seen on the road right here? That was the end of the conversation it was like we were still in shock.
To describe it better from behind it had a very smooth walking gate. It’s calf muscles look like softballs the total weight of the creature I would estimate be around 220 pounds and it was high-level with me sitting in my in my truck, I would guess it’s height around 6 feet tall. The hair was uniform and looked groomed and I would guess it would be around 4 inches long and maybe some of the hair that hung from its arms around it neck was around 6 inches long and that hair looked more a strawberry red color than the main body color which is a reddish brown, it never opened it mouth. It was so focused on where it was walking. It’s like it had no idea we were there.
I know this sounds crazy and far-fetched, but it’s 100% the truth.
I found a report of a traveler hearing wood knocking at the Cherry Creek rest stop south of Malad.
Last year a man spotted a 9 foot foot Sasquatch foraging in the dumpster behind the Malad Summit rest stop. I knew him through a relative. So I was able to confirm the sighting . He saw the big guy at the dumpster which is around the rear of the rest stop by the patch of trees. He claimed it to be dark brown around 9 feet tall and going through the dumpster. I believe his story he had no reason to fabricate a story.
There are other videos and witnesses that have seen Sasquatch in the Cherry Creek area, which is within 5 miles of my sighting.
The craziest thing of all is we had two digital cameras in the center compartment and two iPhones, and never once thought of taking a picture

This area has some history of Bigfoot sightings and encounters. Around 10 miles or so southwest of your 2010 sighting some motorists almost hit a giant bigfoot crossing highway 30 back in 1977 when it was just a narrow two lane road close to Riverside. Some folks sent me a report and photos of Bigfoot tracks around 10 miles east of your sighting in the mountain farm community of Oxford, Idaho.
A lot of folks toss out half ate meals & drinks when they stop at rest stops and so I am sure the trash cans & dumpsters have a ton of stuff to eat that may attract animals & possibly Bigfoot to come in to forage through them if they can. I checked out the Cherry Creek rest stop south of Malad where the near by town has had some Bigfoot sightings & the man sleeping at the rest stop was awakened by the woodknock & something in the woods. I noticed a canyon & draw in the mountain has a creek & a wash that both lead directly to the rest stop from the woods & directly to a dumpster behind the rest stop, perhaps a foraging place for Bigfoot on some nights.
I also checked out the Malad Summit rest stop near your sighting where the guy saw a giant 9 foot tall Bigfoot foraging through the dumpster. This area is prime Bigfoot habitat. Thick alpine woods behind the rest stop that goes on forever to the mountain tops & canyons on the west side.
It would be easy for this creature to come in close to the dumpsters at night to forage on occasion.
