  1. San Juan County Sheriff Bruce Conrad took the picture in 2008, where Deadwood Gulch runs into the Animas River. N 37deg 47' 10" W 107deg 40' 3" The camera location was off the end of an old fishing road. The camera was looking east with the train traveling from left to right. It would have been the perfect place to stage a hoax. My personal conversations with the rear conductor in 1985, revealed that he has seen a number of Bigfoot and they often cross the tracks after the train passes, with him often being the only person that sees it. It looks to be100 to 130 ft to the Bigfoot costumed man, and the train is another 70 ft beyond that. The railroad claims that this is a hoax, as I recall. The train is within site of Silverton. This photo site was obviously hand picked in advance, for the clear walking path next to the river, with no obscuring trees, and the opportunity to time the photo with the train in the background. A Bigfoot would not likely make himself visible from downtown Silverton.
